Wine List

2008 Other

2008 Meritage-Reserve - Meritage - Red

Retail Price: $36.00

reserve_meritage.jpg

A Bordeaux-style blend consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%),
Cabernet franc (25%) and Merlot (25%), our 2008 Meritage is the
culmination of the vintage exuding a combination of depth and
balance. If winemaking is in the blending, then a Meritage is the
ultimate expression of the art. In this blend Cabernet provides the
backbone with dark, supple flavors of currants, earth and spice
while Merlot fleshes out and calms the blend with a finesse of luscious,
bright cherries. An average of 15 months in Hungarian and French
oak lend this wine a smooth, silky texture with touches of subtle,
smoky oak. While more approachable in its youth than many varietal
wines, this unfined and unfiltered blend has an excellent capacity for
extended aging. Expect it to improve and develop over the next 4
to 6 years with each uncorking revealing added nuances and intricacy.

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon-Reserve - Cabernet Sauvignon - Red

Retail Price: $34.00

reserve_cab.jpg

Grown for us by Historic Hopewell Vineyards, our 2008 Reserve Cabernet
Sauvignon is a blend of five extraordinary barrels, yet still 100% Cabernet
Sauvignon. Each barrel was chosen for its unique nuances and distinctive
varietal character to create wine boasting flavors of ripe blueberries, tobacco
and pipe smoke. Fifteen months aging in a combination of French, American
and Hungarian oaks lent it a brisk smokiness, tempered with hints of
vanilla and spice. Unfined and unfiltered, this stout robust wine is an excellent
pairing for heartier fare and can be expected to flourish in bottle for at least
4 to 6 years.

2008 Cabernet Franc-Reserve - Cabernet Franc - Red

Retail Price: $33.00

reserve_cab_franc.jpg

In this 2008 reserve, hand selected barrels of Cabernet franc were outlined
with traces of Cabernet Sauvignon to yield a decadent, earthy red characterized
by currants, dark chocolate, espresso and cloves. Cabernet franc grown by the
Halbrent family in nearby Cashtown, PA fermented on the skins two weeks
before spending 16 months maturing in French and Hungarian oak. Unfined
and unfiltered, this deep bold wine asserts chewy tannins that will allow it to develop in bottle for at least 4 to 6 years.

2008 Chambourcin-Reserve - Chambourcin - Red

Retail Price: $32.00

reserve_chambourcin.jpg

Our 2008 Reserve Chambourcin is the result of a 20 day extended maceration
yielding lush flavors of cranberry and wild berries. Eleven months in American
oak, followed by on-site bottle aging, allows the fruit to shine amidst hints of
smoke, black licorice and subtle, silky tannins. A perfect pairing for earthy dishes and wild game, expect this wine to endure in bottle at least 3 to 5 years. Small lot production of only two barrels makes this wine a very limited treasure indeed.
