World Class Food & Wine Event Every November in Monterey California

The Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association (MCVGA) invites you to escape the ordinary at the Great Wine Escape Weekend, every November in beautiful Monterey California.

The Great Wine Escape celebrates Monterey’s world-class wines and gastronomic delights during a weekend of wine and culinary events. More than forty award-winning wineries showcase their wines, reflecting the quality of the region’s nine distinct American Viticultural Areas.

The annual event has a blend of activities that include a grand dinner, barrel tastings, dozens of open houses and winemaker dinners and the unique “Boot Camps” where you walk the vineyards and learn to blend wines. There is also a Sunday Culinary Showcase with cooking demonstrations by nationally recognized Chefs. Check out www.montereywines.org for tickets, packages deals and hotel recommendations.

The Events

The Escape includes Winery Open Houses starting Friday and continuing all weekend (Cannery Row, Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley and the Salinas Valley). On Friday Night visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium for a special Barrel Tasting and Appetizers night. Wineries pour their yet to be released wines for a sneak peak of future vintages.

Also on Friday night will be the Signature Winemaker Dinner. Pinot Noir will be the wine of the night A beautiful five-course meal will pair Monterey County Pinot Noirs with special gastronomic creations.

Wine Country Boot Camps take place on Saturday in both Carmel Valley and in Salinas Valley. If you always wanted to blend your own wine, spend time in a barrel room, or enjoy the beauty of the vineyard, then join Monterey wine country professionals while you experience the most fun “training” of your life! Includes lunch and transportation.

Winemaker Dinners take place on Saturday evening. Winemakers invite you to experience their hospitality as they partner with local fine dining restaurants throughout the Peninsula on Saturday evening. Also on Saturday are two wine events taking place at the Intercontinental, The Clement Monterey.

At 11 am The Oenophile’s Delight offers three mini events including the Cheese and Chocolate Pairing, a guided tasting through the Monterey’s nine appellations and a spirited Riedel Wine Glass Demonstration.

At 2pm on Saturday Taste The County in 175 Sips will showcase and celebrate the wines of Monterey County. Taste wines from over 40 wineries and participate in the interactive chef demonstrations.

On Sunday enjoy the Culinary Showcase— Cooking demonstration and lunch, 11 am to 2pm at the InterContinental, The Clement Monterey. End your weekend with a foodies dream! Intimate demonstrations will be presented by skilled and entertaining chefs.
